Revision Tips!

Hello everyone! I'm very sorry I haven't uploaded a new blog post in almost 3 months! I've been super busy with school and other exciting things, such as seeing The Vamps on their 2016 Wake Up World Tour! But it's now half term and I'm hoping to upload a lot more throughout the summer months! My uploads might not always be regular because of exams etc but I will try my best!

Now onto today's upload! As I'm sure you are all aware, it is exam season so the majority of us are extremely busy revising and hoping to get the best grades possible. So today's upload is going to be some of my tips for revising for exams. You have probably heard of the majority of these tips, however they certainly work and I would totally recommend!

So here goes!
1) Tip number 1 is getting organised!
It may sound very simple but getting organised is one of the most important things during the exam period. There is nothing worse than stressing and worrying about deadlines that you are unsure of when you have a tonne of other work to be doing! So I recommend creating a revision/ homework timetable. This is a great way to ensure you are putting enough effort into each subject and still leaving time for fun activities and relaxing. You can either create your own revision timetable on excel or you can use an online website to create one for you. Either way, if you stick to your timetable then you will feel incredibly accomplished after each revision session. Here is an example of a revision timetable that has the perfect balance of revision and free time:

2) Revise for a certain length of time.
Revising for 30 minutes a time is the best way to remember all the information you are going to need. By going for longer than about 45 minutes, you will stop absorbing the information and you
will just become exhausted and unmotivated. So 30-45 minutes of solid revision is the best way forward!

3) Take breaks!
One of the most important things when revising is ensuring you take breaks. Whether it going for a walk, listening to music or just sitting on your phone for 15 minutes, breaks are so important. It is a chance for you to clear your mind and prepare to move onto a new subject. If you don't take breaks then you will just become exhausted and it will not do you any good!

4) Rewarding yourself!
During the exam period you can become stressed and forget to take time out for yourself. So make sure you occasionally reward yourself, whether it is with food, watching your favourite TV show, buying some new make up or going on a shopping spree, have something that will motivate you to study and then reward yourself for your hard work! This makes studying somewhat bearable as you will have something to look forward too.

5) Colour!
Revision notes can be very bland and boring, making them unappealing so you don't really want to look at them. So take some time and make your revision notes/ queue cards nice and colourful and pretty so that you enjoy reading them. Also highlighting key information is a great way for you to memorise key facts/dates etc. Using colour will also help you associate different subjects/ topics with different colours so you are surely going to remember everything you need to!

6) Revision Guides!
Now this tip is probably quite an obvious one, but people sometimes forget how helpful revision guides really are! They have all of the information you are possibly going to need for each subject and are produced by the exam board. Even though some of the jokes are not great, personally I wouldn't be able to survive the exam period without my revision guides! Also be sure to speak to your teachers to make sure you purchase the correct revision guides, and if you are lucky, your school/ college may be able to get you discounts on revision guides so be sure to ask!

7) Join a club!
This may be a bit weird, however joining a club, whether it's in or out of school, is a great way to have some fun during the exam period. It takes your mind off of the stress and is an opportunity to make/ hang out with friends. For example, you could join a sports club such as rounder's, tennis or football or you could join a drama or dance club. Maybe take up cheerleading, or even join guides or a youth group! All of these examples are great ways to detox and have some fun during the exam period. But remember to choose something you will enjoy!

8) Try your best and believe in yourself!
It sounds so simple, but is so important! As long as you try your best and believe in yourself the whole way, then I'm sure you will do fine in your exams.

Good Luck!!

5 Last Minute Mother's Day Gift Ideas!

Hello everyone!
As those of you in the UK will know, it is mother's day this Sunday, March 6th. That's only 2 days away! So, if your like me and you haven't got anything for your mum for mother's day then hopefully this week's post will help you! I am going to share 5 of my go to gift ideas perfect for mum's.
Lets get started!

1) Ok so the first idea is of course flowers! You can't go wrong with flowers, and they always make mum's happy. They are super affordable and very pretty. You can get them from practically everywhere! If you want to personalise them then why not try creating your own Bouquet!

2) Number 2 is of course chocolate! Treating your mum to a box of chocolate is usually just what they need! There are loads of types of chocolate to choose from and, just like the flowers, you can personalise them by putting your own message on them (I recommend Thornton's for personalising it!)

3) My next idea for you is a box of all of your mum's favourite things. This will feel really personal and is a lovely gift. You can buy a cute box and fill it with things such as, her favourite DVD, a mug and her favourite drink, her favourite toiletries, a voucher for her favourite shop and some chocolate. This gift is obviously slightly more expensive, but is very personal and is pretty much guaranteed to make your mum smile!

4) One of the best ways to make mother's day special is by purely just treating her. Bring her breakfast in bed, take her out for the day and why not make her a cake. Treat her to what she loves! Making the day relaxing is a lovely way to spend mother's day and isn't too stressful for you either!

5) The final gift idea is for those of you who have younger siblings. Making personalised gifts like bracelets and photo frames, is a lovely way to show your appreciations for your mum. Adding a personalised card is also a very cute idea. This gift is super inexpensive and allow you to spend quality time with your siblings!

I hope that this post has been somewhat helpful to you and if you do use these ideas then I hope your mum likes them! Have a lovely week and I'll be back on Friday!

London Trip

So, as promised, this week's post will be about my trip to London and will include some of the photographs I took.

At 5:30am on Wednesday 24th February, my alarm went off and I got ready very bleary eyed. I'd been excited about this trip for a while. A day out in London with the Photography department to take tonnes of photos. So once I was ready and had gathered everything I needed, off I went at 6:30am! We stopped off to drop my Dad at the train station first, and then to pick up my friend, before arriving at school at 7am on the dot. It was very strange being in the car park with only 2 or 3 cars. Once the coach had arrived we went on a journey and arrived in London at about 10:30am.

We started the day by visiting the Tate Modern Museum. This was a great opportunity to learn lots about a range of photographers and to take photos of some of the unique sculpture in the museum. Here are a few of the photos I gathered at the Tate Modern Museum:

After a few hours in the museum we headed out as a group and strolled along Southbank. I took lots of photographs on this walk, however some are a little too dark for my liking:

So after a long day, we headed home and arrived back at school at 7:30pm just in time to watch The Brits!

I hope you have enjoyed this post, it is slightly different but I like it!
Thank you for reading!

Some of my Photographs!

Hello everyone.
I hope you have had a good week. Today I am going to share some of my photographs with you. Photography is something I really enjoy. I am currently doing it as a GCSE in school and I also attend a club outside of school. So I am going to share a few photos with you. They will probably be quite random, but next week I am going to London on a trip and next weeks post will hopefully be all about my day.

So here goes!
This image is titles 'Oh I do like to be beside the seaside' it was taken on my iPhone 5S and I entered it into a competition at the club I go to outside of school. The theme was 'Summer Breeze' and this photograph scored 7/10 - I was very pleased, especially as it was my first competition and it was taken on an iPhone!

This next photo is titled 'Man on the Beach.' It mainly focuses on layered photography and it is a piece that I produced in school. I was going to enter it into competition but unfortunately it didn't fit the criteria (layered photography wasn't accepted.) I really like this photo as it has a real sense of mystery.

This photo doesn't have a title however I do really like it. It was the first photograph I took on my DSLR Camera - it turned out very well! I love the bright colours and summery feel. Also the reflections are effective.

This also doesn't have a title. It was taken when I was walking my dog. It was in the early stages of my photography and I was just experimenting. I really like how the berries stand out and how the background is out of focus. It was also taken on my DSLR camera.

This is the final photo I am going to share with you today. It was taken on the same day the above photo. I used in a photograph homework under the specification 'simple backgrounds.' I like how the boat stands out and how the photo was taken from a direct approach. This was also taken from my DSLR camera.

So that was just a sneak preview into my photography. I hope you enjoyed this post and if you did comment which photo out of the 5 is your favourite. I hope you have a lovely week and I will be back next week with a post about my trip to London.
